It was a BEAUTIFUL day on the coast yesterday. Shopped, had a picnic and attended a Girl Scout Tea yesterday in Laguna Beach. It was a delightful day. Until… the waves came crashing in!
Pippi discovered Treasure Island Park with her three doggies. Beautiful landscape, comfy benches line the cliffs for perfect ocean viewing and tons of beach discoveries to be found. But, nothing got her attention as the sharp rock formations and the big cave. Three little doggies in tow, off she went.
It was rough climbing and the doggies needed to be picked up and put on the rocks because there was such a big distance for them to jump across. Besides, those sharp rocks would rip their foot pads.
It looked safe but clearly the tide was coming in at 5pm. It was getting more difficult to climb, stretch and carry those three doggies across the rocks. Then, the big gap showed up out of nowhere. As the waves came rushing around the corner of the huge rock Pippi was on with Harlee, Jake and Ramsey clung to the sharp cliff they were stranded on. Jake looked at Pippi, “I’m coming with you!”, but Pippi firmly told him to stay. Ramsey didn’t know what to do as the wave sprayed his little body and he had nowhere to go. The sandy beach was far behind them all by now so Pippi had to get in the water, clothes and all, with Harlee clinging for dear life onto Pippi’s chest.
Overhead a helicopter dipped down but Pippi thought, “I’m not waving for help, I’m a girl scout and I can get out of this predicament.” After ten minutes of fighting crashing waves and almost dropping Jake head first into the sharp rocks below the waves, Pippi ssstttrreettcchheedd her leg across for Harlee to walk over to the other side.
What looked to be yet another adventure of fun turned into a scary experience. But, Pippi rescued the doggies, although drenched and headed back up to the Montage. Treasure Island hiking isn’t for everyone but Pippi and the doggies made a pact to do it again — but from the other side that’s more visible!
